Fatigue is a significant risk for many corporations. This is because of sleep deprivation that results from demanding operational commitments. Also, the limited time between successive operational assignments makes recovery difficult.
Fatigue is the lack of energy resulting from prolonged, extensive mental or physical activity, exposure to environmental stressors or from insufficient sleep and/or body-clock disturbances. Fatigue impairs alertness, often without your awareness. In fact, sleepiness and/or fatigue produces performance problems similar to those caused by alcohol.
However, the fatigue from sleep loss is the most dangerous of these in terms of the impact on mental performance.
